In the days of easy credit you could get into a home with a credit score of 540, sometime even lower. Now with the tightening of credit you will need a score of 620 to 640 to get into a home. That is a bigger increase than you might think and makes it more difficult to get a loan for a home. Fair Issacs Company compiles these scores by compiling credit reports from the three major credit reporting bureaus. While you cannot get the Fair Issacs score without paying for it, as a resident of GA, you can get truly free credit reports from the three bureaus. I've explained exactly how in a report I wrote and posted on my blog titled TRULY "FREE" CREDIT REPORT. By pulling your report from all 3 agencies you can make an educated guess as to your FICO score.
